Renovated from what had formerly been Sally's bar, the idea for the Speakeasy took off shortly after Delight's establishment had been so rudely destroyed. While not intended to be a permanent arrangement after the Patron Gods event, Rey has decided to upkeep its condition and now here we are.
The stage is set so that the performer can be heard throughout the room. The area around it is shaped to provide perfect acoustics, sending lovely melodies to your ears.
Or screeching shrills to make your myringas bleed, whoever is currently on stage. There is no guarantee whether or not you'll be yanked off by a shepherd's crook or booed with jeers and rotten fruit.
On the plus side, there are a couple regular performers here, typically offering a traditional vibe of noir-styled class and elegance.
Located in the basement level of the building is the storage area. If nothing else, there might be familiar characteristics to the type of liquor here. That's because just about everything here is home-brewed.
Spirits vary from alcohol that might remind you of vodka, whiskey, bourbon, gin, rum, tequila, and moonshine.
Naturally, a handsome selection of wine and beer are also kept here.
Products are distilled in a neighboring building, where they are left to ferment before being rolled down into the storage of the Speakeasy's basement and into your glasses.
Several ingredients are also local. One might notice an odd taste, as the fruit and other components used are substituted with whatever Hadriel and its gods are able to provide. At least it won't melt your insides?
The stairway leading to a third floor of the building takes you to the level of the Casino, a place where any and all citizens of Hadriel can kill time with games and gambling.
Activities include table matches, such as Baccarat, Blackjack, Craps, Pai gow, and Roulette. There are also several types of dice games and tables to host Poker (be warned: Take it someplace private if you decide to play the "strip" version. No one wants to see your junk).
There is also a corner of the room where one can safely play darts, as well as a makeshift pool table.
Don't know what to gamble with? The Casino provides a collection of chips to hoard. While they hold no value in the city itself, chips can be exchanged for more quality goods, such as finer liquors and wine down in the Speakeasy. So, if you don't want to settle on the free shit, go get your chips -- or ask nicely; you might be in for a surprise.
With enough padding between the two places, one doesn't have to worry about the noise of gaming and rowdiness to damper your mood. The bar is there for those who wish to relax and take a load off.
After losing your dignity and life's booze-savings at the Casino, fear not! The Speakeasy will be just a stairway away for you to drown your sorrows like the pitiful loser you are. That is, if you're fine with crap that might smell a little like nail polish remover. Just hold your breath, plug your nose, and try not to think about it.
Characters are, of course, welcome to be involved with the Speakeasy and/or Casino, if they want -- provided that they ask first. :)
*The back areas and offices of both the Speakeasy and Casino are considered restricted. Please ask for permission if your character, for whatever reason, decides to snoop in either of those places.
