✘ no i don't remember

Rey will have a variety of memories to share for the EMPATHY PLOT below. Since I wanted to avoid too much tl;dr, I compiled a list of helpful excerpts and such.

Physical, Mental, Emotional

→ Anyone connected with Rey might experience certain CRAVINGS: Namely spring rolls and beer. She is particularly fond of German lager.
→ Even for those who don’t smoke might feel the urge to, but not as a result to any particular addiction or anything.
→ In spite of Rey’s stoic nature, a lot of what she feels are internal. Feelings of random inexplicable anger and guilt are likely to rise. Contrary to her exterior, Rey is constantly at war with her emotions.
→ Also, random bursts of over-protectiveness and a need to stalk may happen. There is also a great deal of abandonment and loss, both from her own timeline and on the Tranquility as well. She has issues with getting close to people now, feeling like those she tries to connect with will wind up disappearing, anyway.
→ Due to the memories of eight different people stored in her head, characters connected to Rey may find themselves thinking in different languages. Whether they know them or not (and they might), some might recognize them as English, Spanish, Zulu, Dutch, German, Italian, Russian, Arabic, as well as Hebrew.
→ You might get opera stuck in your head a lot. More specifically Andrea Chenier and Dido and Aeneas.
→ As far as her headspace goes, Rey is a soldier. You may be thinking of your situation in terms of military tactics, with her century’s worth of fighting battles in her head. Being connected to her may leave you feeling paranoid. If you don’t already, you’ll be wanting to sit in the corner of rooms with your back turned to the wall, just in the likely event that some crazy will come storming in with an AK-47 and tear up the place. If it sounds like a gun or explosion, you’ll be quick to jump to your defenses, ready to be on the offense.

→ As a result of Rey’s “recon syndrome”, she experiences extreme discomfort that borders on panic when alone. When connected to her, one may feel and understand this better than she ever would due to their empathic bond. Your character may be feeling a need to be connected with another person.
→ Strong familial attachments towards the remaining recon team (namely Firo Prochainezo and William Tsang).

Once the memories start zapping through, characters will begin to experience what Rey has experienced:

Being “born” -- the creation kills its twin. {AM}
→ Sentenced to confinement called Glass House, it is visited by a man who claims he is in love.
He wooed her with wicked words. The death of Jonathan, the man who loved a machine {NETHERLANDS, AM}
Boot camp: Rey’s memory of being a soldier before she became Sergeant Stone. {NETHERLANDS, LYDIA SHEPHERD}
The memory of Sergeant Schmidt, a German soldier.
The memory of Sergeant Sheridan, a soldier from the Defense Forces of Ireland. {LYDIA SHEPHERD}
A night at the opera with Orion Gideon. Rey cries. {L}
Rey opens a body bag which reveals one of her previous vessels. {HIKARU SULU}
→ “Goodnight, Sleepyhead.” (Death and sabotage of Stone.)
The memory of Safronov, a Russian sniper. {HIKARU SULU}
→ After her memories come back, Rey has a meltdown and her father is at the receiving end of it.
Bird Song: One of many of Rey’s episodes of mental instability during her recovery from insanity. {ANNE MARIE CUNNINGHAM}
Don’t worry, it’s only skin: Rey cuts her face up. (tw: self harm) {NETHERLANDS}
→ tl;dr Rey sneaks out and eats at a Chinese restaurant with her brother. (Read as: Pretty much the one pleasant memory of hers I have to offer.
→ General good memories of her time spent with her brother during the four years she had spent living together: Arm wrestling. Racing each other down the streets of future!Chicago, towards a restaurant. Hitting each other (playfully). Getting drunk, which requires a lot of booze.
The memories of Sergeant Schuyler, a Dutch woman from Korps Mariniers, the Marine Corps section of the Royal Netherlands Navy. {NETHERLANDS}

Tranquility Memories:
→ Sending the DUPRR pilot, Russe Neson, into the The White Room.

If anyone wants to share any of these memories from Rey (or if they have a personal preference), hit me up in the plotting thread over here!

Update: Pretty much anything from my Eight Lives page is fair game.
New and improved plotting thread can be found over yonder.

→ Lydia Shepherd
→ Hikaru Sulu

→ Netherlands

→ L
→ Anastasia Romanov
→ Rose Lalonde
→ Tony Stark (616)

(no subject)

Your Name: Rev
Character Name: Rey Schuyler
Character Journal: [personal profile] circumitus

New Canon Point: Seraphim Descent (Book II), Chapter 8: Wake The Dead
Reference: Updated history section.

How will this affect your character? In order to override her DPC, Rey will have her memories. This includes her former life as Freyja, and later when she became Rey Schuyler during her time in the military. That said, there will be some definite changes in her personality, as well as physiology. She will remember the events after her creation, as well as how she had spent over seven decades going on suicide missions, dying repeatedly and being transferred into several different bodies. After the events of the first book, Rey had shot herself in the head and had her body sabotaged. However, she was recovered by her creator, Lucas Coffey (or Leland Cleary). He spent two years recovering her memories, including the corrupted and encrypted data in order to transfer Rey's memories into a new and final vessel.

This body is nothing special. Actually, it's practically human. She's slightly lighter for easier mobility, and her senses have been restored (prior to that, Gregory Tremond, who had her killed during a variety of suicide missions, had messed with her "programming". Rey's sense of taste was messed up. Natalie Faust had helped repair some of that in the game, but the new body in this canon update will fix the rest. Food will not taste rotten to her anymore, allowing her to eat and drink as normal).

She will have better understanding and control of her Brísingamen. She even once made use of it to help cauterize an injury after someone had lost his arm, being able to manipulate body heat and all.

As for how this will affect her personality, it will change her a great deal. Rey has been forced to take a step back and seriously reexamine how she's always done things. Her recent monstrous behavior, in game and in her canon, has resulted in her feeling actual regret and dismay for the kind of person she is. In fact, soon as her memories are restored in canon, she goes and throws a full out tantrum in Lucas Coffey's lab. Her speech patterns will be less robotic and automatic-sounding, more like a person. She will be able to understand emotions better, as she's had them before but never really knew what to do with them, due to being stunted by her programming. To anyone she has wronged, she will attempt to adamantly make up for her errors. Rey's mental filter will still be a bit off, as she says what's on her mind and seriously gives no fucks about what people think of her. She is a monster and she knows this. What she doesn't want to do is do more harm than she's already done. She just acts incredibly moody and aggressive about it. She is, at heart, a soldier who has been raised to serve no other purpose but to fight. This leaves her prone to violent and angry outbursts, which is the strongest feeling she has other than feeling empty and confused. But she is nearly a century old, and much of that knowledge (even the false memories) and experience carries over with her. This makes matters more frustrating for her, though at least she's no longer under the risk of DPC.

Additionally, there will be a six-year time gap between her canon update. In that time, Rey had been physically recovered and mentally restored. Her memories of the Tranquility will take about a week or so for her to be able to remember her life on the ship. Happy camper, she won't be.

Item Requested:
- (1) military dogtags belonging to "R. Schuyler"
- (1) an assortment of opera tapes (for her player)
- (1) red evening dress
Intended Purpose: Rey's got identity issues still, dealing with the many lives and memories that she's currently got bunched in her head. The dogtags will give her some solidity, at least. The music and dress are just some nice things that will make her feel a little happy. A rarity.
circumitus: and me reduced to ash. (the hazards of love)

✎ permissions post

CHARACTER SERIES: Original (from a sci-fi/horror series called Project SERAPHIM)

This is the permissions list for OOC (out of character), activity.
Answer the following questions with "yes" or "no", as well as additional information if desired.
Backtagging: Yes, always. Doesn't matter if it's weeks to a month late.
Threadhopping: Absolutely.
Fourthwalling: Not really sure how you can do that with an original character, so probably not.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): Rey is not offended easily, so most offensive subjects don't bother her. She's used to being around crude military people, as she is military herself. Cursing, sexual innuendos, and all that other crap just doesn't even phase her. Half of the time she's so fucking deadpan you can't really tell if she's joking or not, though. There are, however, some sensitive subjects that might pop up in her threads, such as:

→ drug addiction/abuse
→ attempted rape/sexual assault
→ war
→ religion
→ murder and violence of men, women, and children
→ mutilation and self-mutilation
→ lack of self-worth
→ suicide

The worst part about it is how casual Rey is when she addresses these things. She has no social tact, and thus most things that would be "wrong" to most people is just life to her. Her entire purpose revolved around war and conflict, and as such, she isn't the type to sit down and have a cute conversation with random strangers. (After being around for a few years she's getting a little better about that though, but she's still Rey.)

This is the permissions list for IC (in-character), activity.
Answer the following questions with "yes" or "no", as well as additional information if desired. With IC permissions, it's a good idea to elaborate on what other players can expect from your character if they choose to do any of the following:

Hugging this character: Sure, she could use a hug. Depends on how well she knows and trusts you, though. If she feels threatened, she can make her body heat up and hurt the other person before they can do her any harm, so it's safe to say she won't risk bodily harm if anyone attempts physical contact. Like she cares.
Kissing this character: See above. Like she cares.
Sorry, she's not a very experienced kisser to anyone who tries.
Flirting with this character: See previous two answers. Like she cares.
Also keep in mind that she wouldn't know what a stable relationship is like if it hit her in the face with a brick. She's only just recently started getting a grasp of her own emotions and shit. She's not into dudes, either, so guys who try to hit on her tend to get snubbed pretty fast.
Fighting with this character: Rey is a soldier, which makes her a very competent fighter (you can refer to her abilities here if you're really interested). I do love myself a good fight, though I might want to mention that she is also built like a tank. Like, literally. She weighs about 300lbs due to the bionic material her skeletal structure is made up of. So that's something to remember as well.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Rey can take serious amounts of damage and has pain tolerance like a goddamned motherfucker. Fighting is fine, and injury is fine. In fact, I really look forward to stuff like this with her because of just how little crap she gives about taking care of herself. As you can guess what comes next: Like she cares.
Killing this character: Rey is basically a consciousness inside of a body that is made of both machine and cloned tissue of an advanced human. Furthermore, she has been killed several times before. However, she is currently "locked" inside of her current and final vessel, which makes her previous ability to be able to transfer into different cloned bodies no longer applicable. That said, I'm not presently interested in anything that would result in permadeath and would like to discuss these matters ahead of time should they present themselves in a thread.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Rey has no ability to block this stuff out, and while she isn't entirely human, she is sentient and experiences life like a human does. It's just her physiology and "soul" that separates her from others. Sparing the tl;dr details, yes. Yes, you may use these. Contact me first for details because I am totally flexible and chances are my answer will always be along the lines of "FUCK YEAH YOU CAN."

Warnings: Rey is from an original science fiction/horror series (you can read more about it on her extended history page).

Because she comes from such a heavily violent background, there are going to be graphic descriptions to her prose at times that may be triggering to some. Stuff like what I mentioned in the offensive subjects may be liable to come up at times. So again, if this bothers you, let me know (comments on this entry will be screened), and we can totally work around it/opt out entirely.
