DISTINGUISHING FEATURES

Scars FACIAL Left side: Cross about an inch under her eye, and another horizontal that comes up from under her chin. Right side: A diagonal scar a couple inches below her other eye, across the side of her forehead, and another vertical one coming up from her chin to her jaw. The scars actually appear to be purposefully inflicted and not accidental.
BODILY Stab wound in the back of her right shoulder, another across her chest (over one and under her other breast). Various other scars, including a horizontal knife wound in her throat.

OLFACTORY Generally tries to stay hygienic, though might have some difficulty washing out the scent of sweat and blood, which she tries to mask under strong fruity-scented shampoos and body soap whenever she can (seriously). Outdoorsy (i.e. grass, pine, dirt). Those with a heightened sense of smell would likely be able to pick up on hints of death and sulfur.

ACCENT Western American (originally constructed in an underground facility below a city called Ashwater, in Washington); can imitate others, though. Soft-spoken (almost, dare I say, "cute" sounding) voice, but very foul-mouthed with it. Usually avoids pronouns such as "I" and "me" in conversations. However, it has been shown that she drops this front in favor of a more personable demeanor depending on her relationship with that person. (Sounds like Jena Malone. ABILITIES

MEMORIES Has access to the memories and experience of eight very different skilled and unique women over the course of nearly a century.

SOLDIER Military training exceeds well beyond that of the average combat marine: Skills range from long-ranged firearms to melee weapons and close-quarters combat. Specialty lies with automatic and sniper rifles, handguns, bayonets, and combat knives, as well as disarming opponents. Along with basic first aid, she also carries the experience of previous incarnations as highly skilled snipers, soldiers, and special operatives as stated above. With superhuman endurance and equilibrium, Rey's keen sense of movement allows her to be heavily skilled in being able to run through environments via rolling, dodging, vaulting, and climbing. A significantly higher strength and pain threshold than the above-average human, which can be obvious from her well-toned physique.

SALAMANDER Possesses a particular ~~set of skills~~ energy called Brísingamen; this energy supplies her bionic physiology with the ability to utilize her abilities to maximum capacity. Skeletal structure is made up of fervidium alloy, a type of glowing metal that burns up when activated by the Brísingamen energy. This would not be visible unless her bones are exposed. Can unleash heat particles, generating enough energy to cause any nearby persons as well as herself to erupt into flame, and manipulate atoms to create heatwaves and bursts of hot energy. Takes on the form of neon red veins pulsating through the parts of the body energy is being applied to. Basically, she's a walking powerhouse. Immunity to fire and extreme hot and cold temperatures.

When utilized at its best (say, the rate it would need to burn a person alive), skin secretes a black, oily substance called samandrine. Can be hardened on the skin to look like black armor. Samandrine can be toxic when ingested, resulting in temporary paralysis and inability to breathe. Do not eat.

Thanks to her bionic structure, she is also built like a tank (hence why she weighs 350lbs). She can get hit by a speeding car and just walk away grumbling about it. High pain threshold.

Note: In Noctium, the larger and more intense the flames generated, the more Manna is consumed. Range is capped to 20 feet.

GENETICS Due to enhanced genetics, she is able to recover quicker from injuries. While she is unable to regenerate missing limbs or rapidly heal major wounds without rest, broken bones and minor scratches and bruises can take between a few hours to a couple days to recover from. May be able to reattach missing body parts, if given time.

Moreover, her skin and organs are cloned from the DNA of both her "mother" and "father", Dr. Undine Stransky and Lucas Coffey. Due to the immortal strain of cells belonging to her father, also known as LUC-x56 or Cleary cells, Rey has a natural ability to heal fast. But due to the mixture of the human and immortal cells, she is not quite the same as her father, and as such her healing has some limitations in that she cannot heal others. It does grant her immunity to sickness and disease.

Note: Self-healing will exhaust Manna reserves. The more severe the wound, the more Manna is taken. If Rey is nearing a Manna depletion, she will not be able to heal herself on her own.

MULTILINGUAL Fluent in 10 languages: English, Spanish, Zulu, Dutch, German, Gaelic, Russian, Italian, Arabic, and Hebrew.

RESIDENCY

After spending a little over a year living the murderhobo lifestyle living like a feral cat eating out of trash cans, Rey has built a modest home on a small plot of land in the forests of the Emerald District of Sumarlok with her now-handfasted partner, Kainé.

Having once been known to break into homes and steal their food and shower supplies (but otherwise takes nothing of value), now this yurt-style place by the river now houses just about everything she needs.

Built from the ground up, the rustic home somehow manages to have an already lived-in feel to it, with circular walls, furniture, and enough space to welcome guests (both human and not). Appliances seem to have been collected from random places or handcrafted, rather than purchased brand new.

Powered by a generator and a small dam up the river, and plumbing runs through the kitchen, bathroom, and an outdoor shower. Is that a barrel full of booze by the front door? Why, yes. Yes, it is.

A private loft leads to the upper section of the yurt, with a collection of junk and seat cushions, as well as pillows and duvets that seem to form a kind of makeshift bed if you squint hard enough -- really it's more of a blanket fort lit by fairy lights than anything else.

Interior is heated by a gas furnace with some insulation, and kept cool by the shade of the trees.

Outside is a campfire with a tripod and a dutch oven, for when Rey feels like indulging in outdoor cooking.

There is also a small patch of lunar tears growing around the back, with a little outbuilding that serves as a guesthouse for visitors as well as the residents for when they are not-so-human-shaped.

FUN FACTS

Due to her past lives having differing dominant hands, Rey is ambidextrous.
Despite what her appearance might tell you, she actually does love feeling girlish. Even if she's a little self-conscious about it, she enjoys having an excuse to dress up and feel like a woman.
Used to be deprived of her sense of taste to discourage her from participating in outings and other social events, which resulted in most food and drink to have an expired flavor to her. Because of this, Rey was not partial to eating despite the organic aspect of her body requiring sustenance.
Since having her sense of taste restored four years ago, Rey has developed some less-than-polite table manners and eating habits. Feel sorry for anyone who ever has to witness her feeding herself.
Favorite food is dim sum (specifically no mai gai and dantat).
Prefers lagers, but bourbon is her liquor of choice. Loves black teas.
Has a soft spot for animals. Refuses to hunt for food unless it's for survival. Otherwise, she prefers to purchase already prepared meat or stick to an omnivorous diet.

AU clarification: If there was one obstacle that Rey ever had to contend with in Prismatica, it was her immense intimacy issues. Due to past trauma, the very notion of not only being expected to be physical with others but practically being required to felt like a cosmic joke. For this reason, Rey had spent much of her time in this world often pushing her own limits, to the point where she had nearly lost limbs and died. After too many close shaves and a few mediations, she had somewhat come to adapt her new circumstances in time.

But it was a slow process. For nearly a year Rey had avoided connecting with many others, living on the streets and surviving via couch surfing, breaking and entering, and camping out in the wild or sleeping in the park. She had even made some poor choices involving a brothel in an effort to “get over” her problems.

It went over about as well as you could expect.

Leaving some room for improvement, after a year Rey had learned to open up a little more. Even allowing herself to be more intimate with a couple friends and discovering a few new things about her sexuality. She isn’t entirely sold on the idea of letting others in just yet, but it’s a work in progress.

Disposition: As a living weapon tailored for war, Rey was never quite what you would call “emotionally stable”. Prone to risks and dangerous outbursts, her violent nature is kept at bay by the influence of much older memories. These feelings are deep-rooted into her being, yielding to a personality that’s pigheaded and difficult to accept change.

As part of the mechanism which had kept her somewhat compliant, all of Rey’s past identities were initially programmed to believe that she is human, rather than a biomechatronic soldier. Having been implemented with many memories over the course of nearly a century, Rey has thought herself to be the daughter of drunks, drug addicts, murderers, dead beats, and human traffickers. Anything to isolate herself from any desire to connect with anything remotely resembling familial attachments, or even begin to question it, she was made to believe this to be her truth. Though she had been designed to fight with soldiers as a soldier herself, she doesn’t share any patriotic convictions, which often alienated her from forming close bonds with potential comrades.

Her ways of expressing affection is less than conventional. When she perceives someone as weak, she becomes fiercely protective in a way that can come off as unintentionally condescending or humiliating to the other person. If she perceives that person to be strong, she has no reservations about leaving them in harm’s way, or allowing them to be in danger. It’s kind of her way of showing that she has faith in their abilities to survive; Rey’s faith is dangerous.

Though there are not many things that Rey seems to enjoy in life, she does have a notable fondness for music and opera. Seeing as it had been the one thing to soothe her during her moments of psychopathy, the music is the calm to her storm. She also has a liking for recreational games and food. Just food. She spent like all her lives without a proper sense of taste, so now that she has it, there isn’t a flavor in the world that she takes for granted.

When all her senses and past memories had been restored, Rey dealt with the greatest pain she had ever imagined. It was nothing like a gut wound or being blown to bits (although she had plenty of memories of dying such deaths). It was much worse than that. What she underwent was regret, anger, emotional anguish that had been locked in her data-mind. Although she has been “rehabilitated” and has interacted with society now, it’s safe to say that there are certain hazards that bring her stability to question.

If history has been any indicator, Rey has always exhibited a nature that borders on self-destruction, going so far as to hardly acknowledge her own self as a living, valid being. This has unsurprisingly caused those close to her a great deal of frustration. This mentality was not only a product of the years she had spent practically quarantined from most social interaction, but reliving old memories that had since gone array and the fact that she is a vessel carrying several memories, some debatably her own, others being fabricated identities. While she is internally still at war with acceptance her own personhood, her self-destructive tendencies have changed with her mission-driven mentality. When charging senselessly into a fray, it is not to destroy herself but to defend others so that they may survive.

Similarly, at the point in the canon Rey is coming in from, she had been faced with a need to atone for the things she’s done (her present self as well as past incarnations). After a series of reckless displays, it isn’t until one particular intervention that told her enough was enough. That she needs to stop living for the sake of others and work on trying to confront her own bullshit. Paradoxically, Rey is selfish in her supposed selfless acts of martyrdom, fringing on possible suicidal inclinations. Although she is still trying to reconfigure her lifetimes’ long bad habits, given time she may understand.

Under pressure: After decades of memory wipes, Rey now remembers how many times she had willingly gone into suicide missions/death traps, dying repeatedly and being transferred into new bodies. Through the emotional trauma, it is also because of these experiences that Rey is better at handling stressful situations than most. She is quick to action and isn’t prone to hesitate in the heat of conflict. Having never lived a life of luxury before, she hasn’t been lamenting the loss of her old life.

Given that the last thing she remembers in her world ended with her in the custody of a sadistic synthetic woman named IV, who wishes nothing more than to cut Rey open to see what makes her “heart” tick, she has never expressed a keen interest in returning home. Her biggest challenge has always been figuring out how to navigate social norms under different situations. This also came to light during her time in Prismatica, as Rey had come to acclimate to her new setting (despite her issues) to the point where the notion of returning home terrified her. As such, she is difficult to settle in one place for long, living in the constant anxiety that she brings destruction wherever she goes.

Because she has already experienced showing up in another world already (and under similar expectations), Rey will also be quicker to adjust to her new circumstances.

Condition upon arrival: Healthy but cranky, and planning to hold off on accepting literally any of the government’s conditions for the time being.

Abilities:
Composition: Rey’s flesh and blood and fibers are cloned from a genetic “father” and “mother” donor. Due to the immortal strain of cells belonging to her father, Rey has a natural ability to heal significantly faster than a human. Broken/fractured bones will mend within a matter of hours to days, but she is unable to regenerate lost limbs without surgery or reattachment.

Scientifically speaking, those who are born with these cells are no longer considered human but a species called Lucyton cleri, but this term hasn’t really caught on.

Brísingamen: The Brísingamen is an energy stored within Rey’s heart that supplies her bionic physiology. Her skeletal structure is made of fervidium alloy, a type of iridescent metal that can burns with immense heat once activated by the Brísingamen. This energy can unleash heat particles in the air, causing anything within her vicinity to burst into a raging inferno. She can likewise manipulate these particles to create heatwaves and send fire hurling as far as 300 feet. She is capable of controlling her own body heat, from being able to cauterize wounds to igniting flame.

When using the Brísingamen, red glowing veins pump through wherever she is directing the energy (i.e. her arms). Utilizing it at its fullest capacity (say, the rate it would need to burn a person alive) results in her skin heavily secreting a black, oily substance called samandrine. It’s pretty gross.

Here They Come to Snuff the Rooster: Military training exceeds well beyond a typical soldier. Skilled in various weapons, from long-ranged firearms to melee and close-quarters combat. Her specialty lies with assault and sniper rifles, handguns, bayonets, and combat knives. Also has some basic first aid. Rey carries the knowledge of nearly a century’s worth of combat experience. Her lives spent as highly skilled snipers, soldiers, and special operatives carry over to her present self.

Built Ford Tough: A superhuman endurance and agility allows Rey to be heavily adept in traversing through environments via rolling, dodging, vaulting, and climbing. She has a significantly high strength and pain threshold, which can be noted from her well-toned physique. As mentioned above, Rey also possesses a bionic physiology, which contribute to her brute force. The fervidium alloy in her skeleton makes her heavier than she appears (approximately 140 kilograms).

Jack Of All Trades: Combat isn’t the only experience that her many memories have imbued her with. Thanks to her various lives, Rey is skilled in some mechanics and engineering, allowing her to understand and deconstruct machinery and complex robotics. She is also streetwise and knowledgeable in her world’s history.

BACKGROUND: Abridged history synopsis.

PERSONALITY: With an imposing demeanor and bearing, not many would find Rey to be an approachable woman. Most first impressions would indicate that truth — since the day she was born, Rey always been unstable in nature. Prone to dangerous outbursts and driving into perils, her barbarous urges are kept at bay by the suppression of much older memories that ground her conscience, survival instincts, and people skills (rudimentary that the latter might be).

It is because of her nature that Rey puts up a robotic front at first, sometimes even feigning ignorance to get a read on how someone reacts. When meeting new people, she tends to suppress her emotions until she can strategize how to interact with them. Analytical to a fault, she might even seem reserved and shy when facing situations that are new to her. Once she starts acting less like a robot and a little more human, she’s quicker to roll with the punches and get more social and push her boundaries. If the occasion call for it, she may even develop a sense of humor, though her funny bone might be somewhat (read as: severely) lacking and offensive as a result of crude military manners. Anyone sane can usually tell that there’s something not right with her, but with fellow soldier types she might fit right in.

Among those other “somethings not right” is the fact that she has always exhibited a pattern that borders on self-destruction, going so far as to hardly acknowledge herself as a being, let alone human. While she is internally still at war with the acceptance of her own personhood, her destructive tendencies have evolved with her mission-driven goals. When tackling precarious situations, it is not to destroy herself but to defend someone else. It’s that new objective as well as her desire to protect those who cannot help themselves that has become her raison d’être, almost making her a better warrior than she ever was as a living weapon with no purpose to call hers.

Similarly, she has recently been faced with a need to atone for the bad her present as well as past incarnations had done, going so far as to throwing herself into a fray without a care for her own wellbeing. After a series of reckless acts, it isn’t until after a couple interventions that she reevaulates her methods of doing things. That she needs to stop living for the sake of others and work on trying to confront her own wants and desires as well.

Paradoxically, Rey is selfish in her supposed selfless acts of martyrdom, often fringing on suicidal. While it’s not the first time Rey has been urged to try and live for herself, it slaps her in the face when it’s finally brought to her attention by the people she had hurt. People who, she finds, do not wish her ill. People who do not entirely fault her for the sins of her past selves and would rather see her grow into her own person for once.

That person she truly is just happens to be brutally outspoken, almost rude (never ask her if those jeans make you look fat, for one thing). While her open honesty can be off-putting, she doesn’t hold any reservations when speaking her mind. This has proven to be another tactic she has used to push people away, because she’s not doing anyone favors by being so blunt all the time — it’s specifically to alienate herself even further. And it’s damn confusing when she finds that it doesn’t always work. Matters like romance and relationships are completely alien to Rey, leaving her awkward when confronting feelings and times of intimacy. She isn’t ashamed by this neither does she hold any prudish attitude towards those more sexually open, but her own inexperience can be embarrassing that she might regress to being abrasive as a self-defense mechanism on the matter.

Despite her honesty, she isn’t always an open book out of trust. Instead, this is intended to keep most people at an emotional distance. In some cases, as soon as someone starts getting close she is prone to act out in ways that can be considered cruel, oftentimes blurting horrible things she may or may not mean. At her core, however, she is a lonely person. Someone who actually wants to keep people around and learn how to connect with them. The problem is that she’s still figuring out how to do just that. Underneath the scars and rough exterior, however, is a softness that she seldom allows others to see, but it’s there.

Even her ways of expressing affection is less than conventional. When she perceives someone as weak, she becomes fiercely protective in a way that can come off as unintentionally condescending or humiliating to most individuals. If she perceives that person to be strong, she has no reservations about putting them in harm’s way, as it’s her way of showing that she has faith in their abilities to survive and care for themselves. In many ways, Rey’s faith is pretty dangerous.

Some things never change. She still doesn’t give a damn about what people think of her. She was once a monster and she knows this. What she doesn’t want is to do more harm than she’s already done. She just acts incredibly moody and aggressive. She is, at heart, a weapon raised to serve no other purpose but to fight. When there’s no war to be fought, she doesn’t really know what to do with herself. But she is nearly a century old, and much of that knowledge and experience (even the fabricated ones) adds up. How to go forward and live for herself? That’s something she’ll have to make time to figure out.

POWERS/ABILITIES:
● Composition: Rey’s flesh and blood and fibers are cloned from a genetic “father” and “mother” donor, thus making them biologically related by all counts. She is, first and foremost, designed specifically for the sake of combative purposes.

Due to the immortal strain of cells belonging to her father, also known as LUC-156 or Cleary cells, Rey has a natural ability to heal significantly faster than a human. But due to the mixture of the human and immortal cells, she is not quite the same as her father, and as such her healing has some limitations. For instance, broken/fractured bones will mend within a matter of days, but she is unable to reattach lost limbs or repair scar tissue without surgery.

Scientifically speaking, those who are born with these cells are no longer considered human, but a species called Lucyton cleri, but this term hasn’t really caught on.

● Brísingamen: The Brísingamen is an energy stored within Rey’s heart that supplies her bionic physiology with the ability to function. Her skeletal structure is made up of fervidium alloy, a type of iridescent metal that can burns with immense heat once activated by the Brísingamen. This energy can unleash heat particles from the vessel, generating enough to cause anything within her vicinity to burst into a raging inferno. She can likewise manipulate these particles to create heatwaves and send fire hurling as far as 300 feet.

Basically, she’s a walking powerhouse, which also grants her an immunity to fire and extreme hot and cold temperatures. She is capable of controlling her own body heat, from being able to cauterize wounds to igniting a flame. When angered to the point of raw fury, she can even breathe smoke.

If she overexerts herself, takes on too much (say, a whole battalion of human combatants) with her Brísingamen, then Rey will burst into uncontrollable flames. Even though her body is immune to fire, she will then continue to burn until extinguished by an outside source. While carbon dioxide, extreme cold, or a large quantity of water should do the trick, it’s best to use a method that requires distance between Rey and anyone else.

When using the Brísingamen, red glowing veins pump through wherever she is directing the energy (i.e. her arms). Utilizing it at its fullest capacity (say, the rate it would need to burn a person alive) results in her skin heavily secreting a black, oily substance that has been dubbed samandrine. Think of this substance as the oil that keeps a lantern lit. Samandrine can be extremely toxic when ingested, resulting in temporary paralysis and inability to breathe.

● Built Ford Tough: With superhuman endurance and equilibrium, Rey’s keen sense of movement allows her to be heavily skilled in being able to run through environments via rolling, dodging, vaulting, and climbing. She also a significantly higher strength and pain threshold than the toughest of humans, which can be obvious from her well-toned physique. As mentioned above, Rey also possesses a bionic physiology, which contribute to her brute strength. The fervidium alloy in her skeletal structure makes her heavier than she appears (approximately 140 kilograms).

● Here They Come to Snuff the Rooster: Military training exceeds well beyond that of your typical soldier. Her skills range from long-ranged firearms to melee weapons and close-quarters combat. Her specialty lies with assault and sniper rifles, handguns, bayonets, and combat knives, as well as disarming her opponents. Like many in the military, she also has some knowledge of basic first aid. Rey also carries the knowledge of nearly a century’s worth of firsthand combat experience. Her lives spent as highly skilled snipers, soldiers, and special operatives carry over to her present vessel.

● Jack of All Trades: Combat isn’t the only experience that her many memories have imbued her with. Thanks to her various lives, Rey is skilled in some mechanics and engineering, allowing her to understand and deconstruct machinery and complex robotics. She is also streetwise and has a strong sense of world history.

Between her varied identities and the linguist in her, she is multilingual as well. Fluent in English, Spanish, Zulu, Dutch, German, Russian, Gaelic, Italian, Arabic, and Hebrew.

The scars actually appear to be purposefully inflicted and not accidental. Bodily: Stab wound in the back of her right shoulder, another across her chest (over one and under her other breast). OLFACTORY Generally tries to stay hygienic, though might have some difficulty washing out the scent of sweat and blood, which she tries to mask under strong citrus-scented shampoos and body soap whenever she can (seriously). Those with a heightened sense of smell would likely be able to pick up on hints of death and sulfur.

ACCENT Western American (originally constructed in an underground facility below a city called Ashwater, in Washington), though can imitate others. Soft-spoken (almost, dare I say, “cute” sounding), quiet. Usually converses in a monotonous, robotic tone, intentionally avoiding pronouns such as “I” and “me”. However, it has been shown that she drops this front in favor of a more personable demeanor depending on her relationship with that person. (Note that she does play up the “dumb robot act” around most people.)

ATTIRE Severe allergy to sleeves (no, not really. But she is adverse to covering her arms regardless of the weather). Wears tanktops or sleeveless hooded vests (one is black, one is burgundy). Cargo pants. Combat boots. Sometimes her armor. Wears dogtags belonging to “R. Schuyler” around her neck (not her real name).

MISCELLANY Calloused hands. Short, unkempt hair; almost never brushes and always cuts it herself with a knife. Cybernetic physiology: Skeleton is heavier than it would be for the average person of her height and build, causing her to weigh well over 350lbs. Heart and brain are also cybernetic, allowing for memories to have once been written, rewritten, and manipulated. Access to her cerebral system is located in an invisible port buried under the skin on the back of her neck, on the spinal column.

Skeletal structure is made up of fervidium alloy, a type of glowing metal that burns up when activated by the Brísingamen energy. This would not be visible unless her bones are exposed. Can unleash heat particles, generating enough energy to cause any nearby persons as well as herself to erupt into flame, and manipulate atoms to create heatwaves and bursts of hot energy. Takes on the form of neon red veins pulsating through the parts of the body energy is being applied to. Basically, she’s a walking powerhouse. Immunity to fire and extreme hot and cold temperatures.

When utilized it at its best (say, the rate it would need to burn a person alive), skin secretes a black, oily substance called samandrine. Samandrine can be toxic when ingested, resulting in temporary paralysis and inability to breathe. Do not eat.

Thanks to her bionic structure, she is also built like a tank (hence why she weighs 350lbs). She can get hit by a speeding car and just walk away grumbling about it. High pain threshold.

GENETICS Due to enhanced genetics, she is able to recover quicker from injuries. While she is unable to regenerate missing limbs or rapidly heal major wounds without rest, broken bones and minor scratches and bruises can take between a few hours to a couple days to recover from. May be able to reattach missing body parts, if given time.

Moreover, her skin and organs are cloned from the DNA of both her “mother” and “father”, Dr. Undine Stransky and Lucas Coffey. Just to clarify, these women do not act as separate personalities or anything of the such. Rey’s interactions with them is nothing more than how one would interact with a dream or a memory. She can recall them, maybe even make better use of their knowledge and experiences, but she can’t really become any of her past lives.

EIGHT LIVES

Stone

⬤ Marine Corps veteran who was promoted to Special Forces, due to her aptitude on solo missions.
⬤ Born and raised on the streets of Ashwater, Washington.
⬤ An orphan who never knew her parents and never had a family. Was a bit of a loner who managed to make it on her own until she was taken in by a gang of other homeless kids. When she was sixteen, however, they were all killed in a police raid.
⬤ At seventeen, the now lonely homeless girl ran into a military recruiter (Gregory Tremond) who promised her a new family in the armed forces. She looked to him like a brother figure and confident, like many of her later incarnations so foolishly would.
⬤ Honorable and dutiful, Stone is a personality who tries to do what is right, but she’s also a survivor. She isn’t very book-smart, but she’s street smart and perceptive enough to be able to carry out solo missions without much guidance. She’s strong-willed and independent.
⬤ Closest one of Rey’s past selves who became self-aware of her nonhuman existence without going completely insane (but this may be because of her self-destructive tendencies shortly after unlocking this knowledge). Was also capable of utilizing her heat energy with little difficulty, based on instinct due to her intuitive disposition.
⬤ Stone’s memories and personality was based off a former American combat marine named Ryan Stone. Died in 2056 when the Long Winter Wars began.

She could climb five-thousand meters of Mount Elbrus, run the Galway terrain, and swim across the Red Sea. When it came to elaborate mathematics and complex problem solving, such as how to deal with a shut-in living weapon, Stone was miles behind in that marathon.

Silva

⬤ Argentinian.
⬤ Comes from a family of deadbeats with no ambition in life. Silva thinks that she joined the Argentine Navy in order to distance herself from her nonexistent kin.
⬤ Linguist who is able to crack various languages and code. Works in intelligence. Language is just about the only talent she is really adept in, as her combat and people skills are somewhat lacking, and she’s average in just about everything else.
⬤ Pretty agile, though.
⬤ Awkward as fuck. Doesn’t talk much.
⬤ The goal here is to have her work on several aptitude tests to see how well she operates with others. Gregory Tremond learns that Silva has not been much a team player in any of her previous incarnations.
⬤ This personality was based off an Argentinian woman, Alicia Silva. Deceased in the year 2059 during her tour in South America, when their ship is attacked by an enemy Naval fleet.

She couldn’t make out what they were saying, exactly. It didn’t even sound English, or any of the languages that were rolling about inside Rey’s memories of the other women she had been. But one of them was Silva, a former linguist who was fluent in at least eight different languages. Somewhere, in the recesses of her mind, Silva was able to discern the sort of code that the Prizrak guards were speaking. The words came to her, the translation processing from her ears to her mind and all at once she understood them...

Steyn

⬤ South African.
⬤ Grew up in a brothel; raised by prostitutes.
⬤ Mother was a call girl who was murdered by one of her clients when her daughter was 7. Father works in human trafficking, and runs the brothel that Steyn was born and raised in.
⬤ At age 17, Steyn’s father threatened that she would be shipped off to slave auction if she did not start taking clients at the brothel she was living at to “earn her keep”. Afraid that her father would be good on his word, Steyn enlisted for the South African Army to escape her family.
⬤ Has mondo intimacy issues and very negative views towards sex. Is oftentimes referred to as a “frigid bitch” by many of her peers for this reason, and also her catty attitude.
⬤ Doesn’t get along with people very well. Not much of a team player either.
⬤ She is sent to South Africa to assist in an outbreak of civil wars.
⬤ Original memories belonged to a South African soldier, Marilyn Steyn. Died in 2068 as a result of friendly fire on the field.

Steyn, a woman from South Africa who had thought her father to be a drug lord also working in human trafficking, had joined the military to escape his threats of sending her to a brothel. Now, Steyn was conveying a different message from the recesses of Rey’s memories. She had been an engineer. A valuable identity, no doubt, as Gregory needed someone to be able to crack the codes when infiltrating the GRIGORI’s defenses. The memory of Steyn was telling Rey that she needed a retinal scan in order to proceed. She believed her past self.

Sarfati

⬤ Israeli
⬤ Jewish descent. Non-practicing religious.
⬤ She hails from a family of protesters who were killed when their hometown was attacked. Orphaned and alone for most of her life, she enlisted into the war and had been part of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army ever since. She feels that “God” has let her and her “family” down.
⬤ First one of Rey’s incarnation to have befriended anyone. In this case, it’s a mechanic named Eli who worked on various aircrafts. Sarfati learned from Eli, who was showing her how to understand schematics. While no expert, she has some basic mechanic knowledge, and is capable of rewiring and reprogramming certain aircraft mechanisms.
⬤ This personality was based off a woman named Jana Sarfati. Deceased as of 2076 during a conflict in the Middle East.

Her meager engineering skills were rusty, but she had a certain memory from a soldier named Sarfati, who had once befriended a mechanic named Eli. Together, they worked on various aircrafts. None of them were zeppelin-shaped prison ships, but the control panel itself rang a bell from a particular memory. As that Israeli soldier, Sarfati frequently worked with her friend, Eli, as he showed her how to read and reroute the cabling.

Sarfati was no fool, and she knew what she was doing.

Schuyler

⬤ Dutch.
⬤ A woman from the Netherlands with a heavy Dutch accent.
⬤ Specializes in winter warfare.
⬤ Watched her mother murder her father while both were in a drunken argument. She ran away from home when she came home to finding her own mother having shot her father in the face. Since then, she joined the Korps Mariniers, the marine corps section of the Royal Netherlands Navy.
⬤ America is allied with both the Korps Mariniers and British Royal Marines. Schuyler meets Helena Lyonene and Adam Moskalenko in Washington DC, both who are assigned under the Sergeant Schuyler’s command. Helena’s father oversees Schuyler taking control of his troops as they depart DC.
⬤ The language barrier was originally intended to keep her alienated from others, but before long she becomes close friends with Helena Lyonene and Adam Moskalenko — another rarity. Adam helped Schuyler with her English, to a point where she’s even lost her accent.
⬤ While she is bound to her mission, Schuyler has a sense of loyalty and self-sacrifice, almost to a fault. She puts others before her mission, making Schuyler an illogical personality.
⬤ Original personality and memory belonged to Anna Schuyler. Deceased in 2091.

If she released the prisoners, not only would she be alerting the synthetics on board of her presence, but she’d only be sending these little lambs to their slaughter. The Rey she had been six years ago who was an empty vessel with no memory or identity wouldn’t have thought twice about it. Using children as a diversion seemed to be a logical course of action. Schuyler, however, was the reasonable one. She had been there during the Julian Massacre, choosing between tending to her fallen comrades or to chase the traitor who gave their position away. Schuyler chose to stay, saving Helena Lyonene from blood loss by cauterizing her leg. Years later, she would thank Rey for the actions she had made as Sergeant Schuyler.

Sheridan

⬤ Irish.
⬤ United Forces of Ireland, allied with the Scottish and British Royal Army after the country had been invaded by the Chinese.
⬤ Born in the countryside of Galway to a family of drunkards (although she herself is loath to any manner of substance abuse. This has more to do with her inability to taste than her fabricated memories).
⬤ Of all her personalities, Sheridan is by far the most amiable one, who is kind and personable with her superiors and peers. She even learned how to feel love and affection towards another person, which also makes her an illogical personality.
⬤ Sheridan was based off of a woman named Casey Sheridan. She died in 2021 on the “Highway of Death” while serving the army stationed in Kuwait, several years prior to Rey’s birth.

Sheridan had been with people before. She even had a relationship with a man once. What was his name again...?

Marcus Sullivan, came Sheridan’s tiny voice. Sheridan was not only a fighter, she was a lover. Other than that she had come from a family of drunks, Sheridan thought she had a normal upbringing. She had served the Defense Forces of Ireland, who were allied with the Scottish and British Royal Army during a time of war with China. Sheridan hated alcohol, for what it had done to her family.

All of Rey’s past lives shared a common theme. They were unapproachable women. Cold and detached from their emotions. Only Sheridan was genuinely hurt by this, always wanting so badly to be loved. Marcus Sullivan seemed to be the kind of man to give that to her. He was a gentle giant, dark and somewhat plain looking. But he treated her with a kindness that she was not used to. They shared a bed, and when Sheridan had expressed discomfort in their fleeting relationship, he never asked anything more from her. Sheridan didn’t hate him for it. She hated herself for not being able to feel safe with that sweet man.

Schmidt

⬤ German.
⬤ Parents both died on drug overdoses, after she came home from school one day to find them. Because of this, she has a very negative outlook on drugs and alcohol and avoids them altogether.
⬤ Cold and detached, avoids people whenever she can.
⬤ Fully capable of utilizing her heat abilities, the legend of “the Salamander” begins with Schmidt. More brutal than her previous selves when it comes to carrying out her missions, Schmidt is a violent one, but more subservient to orders.
⬤ As she is the first one innately proficient in her abilities, Schmidt was the first one of Rey’s selves who learned how to completely control her heat energies to create fire, and even absorb it from her body. This promoted Gregory Tremond to design the Exurosuit to better adapt her on missions without constantly burning her gear off.
⬤ Schmidt expresses sociopathic tendencies, spreading the Salamander’s reputation throughout the Long Winter battles in Europe, and various other countries as the soldier with the affinity for fire and cannot be burned.
⬤ Because she is a sociopath, Schmidt is antisocial and guarded, oftentimes reacting in volatile ways even for Gregory. Easily frustrated and angered, and quick to erupt into violent actions. She is unable to form any attachments towards other people in any way, completely lacking in empathy.
⬤ Schmidt was a personality constructed almost entirely by Gregory Tremond. Rey Schmidt does not exist.

These Russian men only happened to be passing by when she was on her way through the mountains, where she had requested refuge in their camp to rest. Most of them are independent — rebels who want to have nothing to do with the Long Winter, the war waging for seven decades now.

Although Schmidt claims to be a revolutionary herself, they do not invite her into their tents or campfire at night. Instead she sits in the shadows, watching the trees and listening to the forest.

From far away, the wolves howl.

Through the varying descriptions they had, many of the rebels decided that Sergeant Schmidt was the spitting image of their ghost story. She listens to their talk of a pyromaniac who can walk through fire. Schmidt stalks their circle as she listens. When they sleep, she protects them.

One night a twig snaps off in the woods, followed by a crunching of snow. Schmidt leaves with her gun, and returns a few hours later. When the rebels wake the next morning, they see her sitting by the dying embers of their campfire in bloodstained fatigues. They whisper amongst themselves that Schmidt smells strongly of ash and sulfur.

People cannot help what they are, so Schmidt does not blame them. She can’t stand her own skin.

Safronov

⬤ Russian.
⬤ Unique from the other identities. Safronov is actually capable of overriding Gregory Tremond’s attempts at writing her code and chooses her own personality: Ruthless and by far worse than Schmidt, Safronov has memories of a Russian sniper who had been trained by her family to kill. She is more of an assassin than she is a soldier. She is by far the most difficult personality for Tremond to control, as she acts independently and is swift to disobey his orders.
⬤ She is typically ostracized even from soldiers. While her brutality has gained her respect, it has also earned her a great deal of horror stories as well. The Salamander is now less of a tale between enemy soldiers and deserters, and more of a warning when they start to see massive plumes of smoke and flames carrying a stench of burning corpses.
⬤ Similar to Schmidt, Safronov had the same amount of control over her abilities, also coming into possession of a more modified Exurosuit to better carry out her missions.
⬤ In contrast to Schmidt, Safronov is a psychopath. Unable to form any emotional attachment, and uses her “comrades” only to her own advantage. They are either meatshields or social disguises. Safronov can pretend to be a normal person, even likable and charming at times. However, that doesn’t stop her from fantasizing about slitting your throat in your sleep.
⬤ Unlike the others, the memories of the Russian sniper are actually based off a woman who is still alive. Valentina Safronov is an elderly woman who lives in isolation in a small town in China. She escaped shortly before the Kristiv Resurgence during the Long Winter. She was born sometime in the 2080s.

Schmidt and Safronov, two women who wore the monikers “the Salamander” and proudly took to their roles of being monsters. Safronov in particular was not a very kind woman. Even she was obsessed with the idea of revenge, of giving the Prizrak what they deserved for the Russian blood spilled across her homeland — or what Rey had once perceived to be home. In the end, she had no home.

FREYJA (Fiona)

⬤ Arguably the “real” Rey. Not actually a fabricated identity with false memories, but the original vessel. Was considered too mentally unstable to be effective in the field, but Gregory Tremond took a gamble on her anyway after faking her expiry, utilizing her for his own reasons. Rather than sending her off as the empty vessel Freyja, he installed memories of other women to make her more adaptable to situations and blending in.
⬤ There is a duality to “Freyja” and “Fiona” — while Freyja is the compliant solider that was created by PROJECT SERAPHIM, Fiona is the daughter of Lucas Coffey and Undine Stransky. She had only expressed her façade as Fiona towards Undine, who she genuinely saw as a mother and one of the closest friends until her eventual death.
⬤ Personality-wise, Freyja is more robotic, and rarely ever spoke. Fiona was a bit more talkative, but only with her mother-creator. Rey speaks more like Freyja/Fiona than her fabricated identities, avoiding the use of “I” and “me” and “my” in her sentences. When she breaks that front, she is taking more from her later memories that Gregory gave her.
⬤ Appearance-wise, she is the most different. She is tall, blonde-haired, mechanical lime green eyes, and of course devoid of the facial scars.
⬤ She is obviously self-aware.

((WARNING: Violence, blood, body parts literally falling off and just general gross shit.))

Light poured through the doors as they opened, blinding Stone. She tilted her head back, a hand starting to lift over her eyes, and stopped. She realized... she couldn’t see out of her left eye.

Ooze dribbled down her socket, over her cheek. When she moved, something fell from her face. Stone looked down to see that white ball with a forest green iris rolling across the pavement. She surprised herself when she went to pick it up, only to watch her eye slide away from her, falling into a crack in the earth.

That was when she noticed the missing fingers on her hands, most of them gone with only her thumb, index, and middle fingers remaining on them both. Her skin was peeling off, revealing raw muscle tissue of yellow and orange bubbling underneath. Her right forearm opened up to reveal a piece of bone shining through.

Bones weren’t supposed to shine. Not like that.

Stepping into the bloody daylight, she canted her head and wondered why the red bones jutting from her body were shining. She glanced down, hand over her chest, to see metal-like ribs sticking out of her.

She should be screaming but, opening her jaw, it only clacked. Much like other parts she was missing, most of her mouth was gone.

The streets were paved with eerie silence. The snow had completely melted in the wave of heat. A hot wind blew through. Any bodies piling the streets withered, reduced to ash. Cars were turned over, leaving frail skeletons behind the wheel. What should have taken months if not years to decay left bodies in a rapid state of rigor mortis.

Steam billowed down one of the many avenues she trudged. While there was nothing left of the people, cars and buildings remained, though rapidly corroding, making the place appear many years abandoned than it was.

As she thought, in the end she had nothing.

The streets were empty, quiet as a ghost passing through. She must have walked for miles before her body couldn’t carry her an inch further past the road sign over the freeway revealing the exit out of Ashwater.

In the middle of the freeway devoid of traffic, the operative collapsed to her knees. Her one eye closed, feeling the blood dry and peel off her cold face. She tilted her head to the sky, desolate and red with strange seams drifting into the burning clouds. Like a hundred ribbons falling upwards, fading into black. Was it real, or were her eyes playing tricks?

Get up, Stone said to herself, only the words were not spoken. She had no lips anymore, just as parts of her face were missing, and her hair had gone. She no longer felt the need to breathe, with her lungs rotting from the inside and melting through her ribcage.

Yet she was alive in the most peculiar way. Pushing her body onto her side, she moved into a crawl. Then she helped herself onto her feet again, her knee rattling before giving out.

Stone heard a small, pathetic sound, and realized that she was the one making it. She reached for something, anything, before her remaining three fingers on her right hand clasped around a metal rod sticking out from the ground. What remained of a street sign poked out. Stone ripped it from the steaming asphalt.

Using the rod in place of her ruined leg, she staggered on into the gray mist.

The freeway opened up to her.

In the shattered side mirror of one dilapidated truck, now the casket of a skeleton slumped in the driver’s seat, Stone caught herself in a brief reflection. Her scars were hardly the least defining trait about her anymore. Shining material poked from her skull. It looked like pale red steel, but pristine. She had lost all of her teeth, and her head bald. She was a dying animal, carrying itself on its last legs. Something like her had no right to live.

I deserve to die.

Why wasn’t she? How was it that she was here, staring down miles upon miles of endless freeway, to the interstate across the Blue Mountains, where corpses were encased in metal tombs.

Stone...?

“Stone?”

Stone was on her side, gazing into the crimson horizon and an end of the world. When a man’s shiny loafers stood in front of her field of vision, she had a passing thought to greet Death in kind. He stood beyond her line of sight, with her only eye close to the ground and seeing only the man’s knees as he crouched over her. A gentle touch came over Stone’s scalp, stroking the raw, peeling skin.

“Let me take a look at you.” Hands gripped her shoulders, sustaining her onto her knees. Her strength ebbed, head bowed until fingers reached under her chin.

In front of her was a man of rust-colored hair and sharp gold eyes. He was tall, possibly over six feet with his stature. His giant hands caressed her chin into his palm as he brought his thumb over her cheek.

While his face was foreign to her, his voice had rang familiar.

Agent Tremond.

Gregory Tremond.

“Seems that you’ve inspired quite a bit of chaos, haven’t you? This would be my fault, I imagine,” he said and sighed.

He flipped his wrist, revealing a silver watch.

“What a mess. The Chancellor is dead, although it sounds as if his son lives. He’s in urgent care right now, at any rate. You wouldn’t happen to know anything about that, would you, Stone?”

Stone didn’t reply. Couldn’t.

“Nevertheless, you were successful,” Tremond continued. “You did well, Sergeant. I promise you that once this is done, you’ll be right as rain. Although you won’t remember this conversation, so I suppose there’s no point in colloquies, yeah?”

Agent Tremond laughed. He let go of Stone, forcing her to support herself on her knees. The man rose over her. Her head drooped, from seeing his fancy white dress pants to his clean loafers once again. Although her vision was spotted, she still heard things very well. Such as the sound of a gun cocking as Tremond took one out of his vest, and released the safety.

She felt the cold end rest against the top of her head. Stone closed her eye.

Wasn’t this where she supposed to be seeing her life flash before her?

“Goodnight, sleepyhead,” Tremond told her in a soft, soothing voice.

The trigger pulled.

Stone was fond of the sound bullets made. She was born in war, and lulled by a tune burrowed into her brain that she knew so well.

Rey will have a variety of memories to share for the EMPATHY PLOT below. Since I wanted to avoid too much tl;dr, I compiled a list of helpful excerpts and such.

Physical, Mental, Emotional

→ Anyone connected with Rey might experience certain CRAVINGS: Namely spring rolls and beer. She is particularly fond of German lager.
→ Even for those who don’t smoke might feel the urge to, but not as a result to any particular addiction or anything.
→ In spite of Rey’s stoic nature, a lot of what she feels are internal. Feelings of random inexplicable anger and guilt are likely to rise. Contrary to her exterior, Rey is constantly at war with her emotions.
→ Also, random bursts of over-protectiveness and a need to stalk may happen. There is also a great deal of abandonment and loss, both from her own timeline and on the Tranquility as well. She has issues with getting close to people now, feeling like those she tries to connect with will wind up disappearing, anyway.
→ Due to the memories of eight different people stored in her head, characters connected to Rey may find themselves thinking in different languages. Whether they know them or not (and they might), some might recognize them as English, Spanish, Zulu, Dutch, German, Italian, Russian, Arabic, as well as Hebrew.
→ You might get opera stuck in your head a lot. More specifically Andrea Chenier and Dido and Aeneas.
→ As far as her headspace goes, Rey is a soldier. You may be thinking of your situation in terms of military tactics, with her century’s worth of fighting battles in her head. Being connected to her may leave you feeling paranoid. If you don’t already, you’ll be wanting to sit in the corner of rooms with your back turned to the wall, just in the likely event that some crazy will come storming in with an AK-47 and tear up the place. If it sounds like a gun or explosion, you’ll be quick to jump to your defenses, ready to be on the offense.

(BIA) PLOT UPDATE
→ As a result of Rey’s “recon syndrome”, she experiences extreme discomfort that borders on panic when alone. When connected to her, one may feel and understand this better than she ever would due to their empathic bond. Your character may be feeling a need to be connected with another person.
→ Strong familial attachments towards the remaining recon team (namely Firo Prochainezo and William Tsang).

Once the memories start zapping through, characters will begin to experience what Rey has experienced:
