NOTE: As of 12/2016, Rey has adopted the alias "Fiona Stransky" when working with the Guard. Something to keep in mind, as Rey maintains a low profile with her involvement in the group. Other than what is mentioned in the Guard records, there is no trace of a "Fiona" identified on the network.
[Rey and Maketh have had some pretty bad spats before, but this feels different. More personal. She can't help but wonder if there's any recover from this, but she'll try.]
how'd she handle the news? it was just bad enough coming from me.
Murder an innocent. Grovel at her feet with a god killer in hand. That shall restore her happiness.
Or remember that you would spare her the cost of walking down that dark path. The Empire taught her that all life, including her own, has no sanctity. Do you think that she cares about the price she must pay to achieve her plans?
[She stares at Henry's reply for a several solid seconds. It takes her a moment to formulate a message through the fog in her own mind:]
but someone is dead now.
[Before she can let that settle in, she quickly adds:] just not an unsuspecting innocent. she was going to die either way.
[That sounds like a pitiful excuse, though. In this way, she finds that there are ways of achieving the ends that Maketh had sought without sacrificing their moral integrity. Rose made her choice. Rey had to act quick to make hers. She still doesn't know if she's been making the right decisions lately. Now she just feels like a hypocrite.]
just thought you should know. and that it wasn't for maketh.
[Henry lets Rey in without fanfare, a frown etched on his face.
The apartment is how it's been since it was cleaned up after the fire: warped in places, marred by some permanent scorch marks, the previous standard furniture replaced by some of Irisviel's ghastly collection. They may be somewhat disconcerting to look at, but at least they're intact, which can't be said of their furnishings caught in the fire.
He heads into the living room and takes a seat, expecting Rey to do the same.]
Well?
[There's impatience in his voice; he has enough stress to deal with more being added. Until he hears a decent explanation, this borders on hypocrisy.]
[If nothing else, Rey knows better than to expect Henry to roll out the red carpet for her. She knows what it looks like, and takes no pride in the matter at all.
[Her mouth tightens, pulling her hands from the pockets of her cargo pants to crossing her arms over her chest as she follows suit and takes a seat.]
It was Rose, or... "Hanako Nurumi". She was on the list.
[Rey never bothered to ask the reason for the moniker, since it's been none of her business. And it's neither here nor there.]
Had a plan to fake her death. She was on board with the idea. Wanted to maintain a pretense for the Null, not for the godkiller. But when the few people who got killed were resurrected, she decided it'd be safer to pull off the real deal.
...The idea was already in her head then. She would've had someone else do it if not me. [Not that that exonerates Rey of fault. She could have tried to persuade the woman, but Maketh had just been forced out of the Guard and Rey was out of fight by then.
[She rubs her forehead. None of that makes this any better, though, and she knows that.]
[Henry pushes his hands through his hair, and bounces one leg as he thinks. It's a hard situation to judge. Certainly he'll have to speak to Rose to hear her telling of it — if it's true that Rose coerced Rey into it then they can leave it there. It's not that he distrusts Rey's words, per se, but after the incident with Maketh he needs to be certain.]
...I am aware that she is inordinately fond of Sorrow. Which, one presumes, is her motive.
[He looks at Rey.]
I shall speak to her to ensure that her telling matches yours. Now tell me the rest of your plan.
[She tries to think of "when" Rose will come back, as opposed to "if", seeing that there have been others killed in the middle of this mess who came back.
[Either way, Rey has nothing to hide.
[As for her plan:]
Intend to get the godkiller from the Null, and keep the illusion of cooperation between them. They said that would contact anyone who helps them. Information could be important, such as when they plan to attack.
[Another "when" and not "if" scenario.]
Have dealt with their kind before. Am familiar with how they "think".
Rose wants one, but ultimately? Insurance. In case the gods turn. Just don't buy into the idea that the one that's been giving the Null intel all this time is one of us.
[At least none of the gods can say that Rey -- and others -- didn't warn them.]
[The drop in his tone does not go unnoticed, but Rey makes no comment on it. She knows why -- what it is Henry is thinking and how he must be feeling. Maketh had made such similar words to Rey, and all that got her was hurt. There's no use in dragging that out in the open, to add salt in that wound they both know is there.]
Will do.
[When Henry stands, so does Rey, but she isn't quick to make her leave, either.]
It was a mutual agreement, so there's no reason to try and hide it.
[She pauses, then adds:] Are you okay?
[A stupid question to ask, all things considered.]

[Regardless of all the arguments and tension of late, it's still a time to show that one cares.]

thanks for the info.
should get her something. still on her side. want her to know that.

[Or so they must hope.]

But we are dear to her as she is to us. Forgiveness will come.

hope you're right about that.

We made the correct choice. Doubt it not.

it isn't about if the choice was correct or not.
just dont feel right.

It is right that you care enough to defy her.

Explain yourself.
[Because Henry really needs to know. It's rather fortunate that this is text and not audio.]
text;
not here.
where's a good place to meet?
text;
My apartment.
[She ought to know where that is.]
text➣action;
ok.
be there in 15 min.
[A few minutes less than that, she knocks on the door. This isn't something she wants to delay for long.]

I see. What will you do with the god killer itself?

Henry's legs stills and he sighs.]
Nick has said the same.
[Henry cocks his head.]
...Is Nick aware of all that you have told me?
no subject
[Rey's been making an effort in that. It's the least she can do for everything Nick has done for her.]

[Henry remarks, a transient, bitter edge to those words and his expression. It fades quickly, but so quickly it is easily missed.
Maketh promised him, once, that she would never keep him in the dark. Look where her broken word has left them now.]
Delay it not. In the future I would suggest informing us of anything pertinent sooner.
[With that said, Henry stands, despite not having sat for long.]
I thank you for the truth.
[With her telling told, he assumes that she's done here.]

Will do.
