NOTE: As of 12/2016, Rey has adopted the alias "Fiona Stransky" when working with the Guard. Something to keep in mind, as Rey maintains a low profile with her involvement in the group. Other than what is mentioned in the Guard records, there is no trace of a "Fiona" identified on the network.

If he gets that hint, he just half shrugs and plays coy, not that it's something he can pull off, he's too honest, his smug face says it all.

Yeah, at least this time they were. I don't know this for sure, since it was my first time seeing holographic monsters back then when I first met Kaiba, but his supposedly feel... real, compared to normal holograms. Some of those hits we took actually hurt a little, just as a part of the experience. But, back home, our duels usually got a little more real than that, you couldn't tell the difference between the hologram and the monster actually being there, until it was a little too late, especially those involving the Egyptian God cards.

He makes a little pause, realizing something.

I think this has been the most normal duel we've ever had.

Heh, he chuckles at that.

Back home, yeah. Quite normal.

Heh, that's because you haven't seen us. You should try it someday anyway, it's more fun than it seems when you know how difficult it can be to get the perfect strategy, anticipating your opponent's movements can be quite the thrill.

As she probably saw.

After the flunk that had been putting together a deck for Law, Kaiba surely wasn't going to be so willing to lend him his cards again but, he could try. It's true, Rey doesn't seem the type, but even back home the most unlikely individuals he had found had been excellent duelists, like Ryota, he was everything but what people would expect from a duelist.

It's never too late to learn. I'll see what I can do, I don't have spare cards myself, and the last time I put together a deck for someone with Kaiba's cards... well, 「He scoffs a little.」 never mind.

But Rey is not Law, that was painfully obvious now.

Where did that come from? Atem has to double take, is this Rey he's talking to? You think you know a person...

He smiles at her after his little moment of surprise.

I don't... I really don't.

He in fact, cleans his hands with a close kitchen towel and takes out his deck — of course he's carrying it! You never know when you could need it.

I can teach you with mine while it finishes cooking, although it's a bit tricky.

Or very, but it'll work for the teaching purpose.

And this is why he doesn't cook.

Of course — don't worry, it's very easy to understand. The tricky part comes when you try to make it work in your favor, you would have to memorize or at least read the effects of your cards.

He begins by separating a few of them in the trap, magic and monster cards. Here comes a rather succinct explanation of each type, counter traps, continuous spells, quick-plays and pot of greed included! He tries to make it the explanation enjoyable, giving some examples and what not.

You may never know what your opponent's deck might have, it's important to have different strategies against different things, cover at least the obvious effects. And even if you knew their cards, it's not as simple. I know every card in Kaiba's deck or, I used to, and he knows mine but, I nearly lost to him thanks to a new card I've never seen him using before. He knows and believes in his cards more than he gives credit for. That is also important, Rey. You put your trust in them, and they'll know it.

Believe it.
