NOTE: As of 12/2016, Rey has adopted the alias "Fiona Stransky" when working with the Guard. Something to keep in mind, as Rey maintains a low profile with her involvement in the group. Other than what is mentioned in the Guard records, there is no trace of a "Fiona" identified on the network.
Good. I will be here. If you, ah. Aren't aware, the forest is on the southern end of the island, and when we were brought to this place, my garden remained within it. I am privately grateful it isn't on the same island as the Orchard, though it does present some problems.
[Hmm. She visited the orchards recently, and her encounter with Caedra there left Rey concerned whether the demon would scour the forest and park soon for whatever magical plants she's searching for and stumble upon Carlisle's garden. It'll be worth warning him, but soon.]
All right. Be there soon.
[She clicks off.
[A few hours later, she tracks down the cottage on the northern island, braving the harsh waters to pass from one piece of land to another. It's more annoying than anything, but unlike some people Rey is not afraid of the ocean.]
[And there's Carlisle in the garden himself, safe and sound and completely dry as he won't even go near the water if he doesn't have to, thank you very much. He glances her way as she approaches, tossing his gardening gloves and shears aside.]
Ah good, there you are. You'll have to forgive me for not having contacted you sooner. Sending tea by way of Atem is convenient, but I suppose it's good we see one another every now and then, isn't it?
[Good luck staying dry under the frequent rains, bro. At least it must be good for his garden. Rey hopes, anyway.]
Yeah, sure. It's good to get off that island sometimes, anyway. [Carlisle might be a homebody here with his cottage, but Rey gets antsy if she has to sit in one place for long.]
Thanks for the tea, by the way. Been trying to have non-alcoholic options in addition to everything else... And it's been good for the headaches.
[Which Rey can't seem to shake since she messed with her own head, but she tries not to complain too much.]
[She has noticed something looks off about him some time ago, and that's more than apparent now. Rey files that away for the time being, to comment on soon.]
Ah, he mentioned something about that. Said you were helping him with "a thing".
[Weirdly, he wasn't much more descriptive than that.]
[Rey has no idea, either. She remembers him saying something about not knowing who to trust. What did that have to do with this?]
Me, neither. But... whatever. [She decides not to drag Carlisle into this. If Atem's got something going on, she'll deal with it herself.] Going to assume the charm it has something to do with the "crew" who'll be on board the same ship as me.
That's right. [Rey's voice is low, clearly showing no affection for that woman.] Her "influence", though? What, does he think she can mind control me? [Snort.] Because you'd know how that works out.
[Again, she doesn't mean it in a derisive way towards Carlisle. For this, she sure as hell hopes that no one can take control of her at all, magical or otherwise.]
[She means no offense in that remark, but Carlisle seems to shrink anyway, if only for a moment. His arms cross, his gaze locking on her.]
I would, but demonic energy is quite different. It can taint you from within, a poison of the very soul. A demon does not need to control your body to ruin you.
You are ever the puzzle, Miss Rey. If nothing else, as you said, extra precautions can do no harm.
[He turns from her and opens up the chest at the end of the bed on the far wall of the cabin, pulling out several jars of tea for her and lining them up on the table. He's clearly been busy, as each bottle has a label: about half of them are marked with "weaker," and the other are "stronger."
And then there is one jar of "strongest," the coloration a bit darker than the rest.]
I have made you an assortment, varying degrees of effectiveness for however your head is feeling. I will warn you that the concentrated one here should pack quite a punch, even for someone as peculiar as you.
[Before she can make a comment on Carlisle "puzzling" over her, she stops and at the collection that Carlisle presents her. That's a lot of magic tea, bro.]
Wait, you mean all of these are for... Don't you need this stuff, too? [For whatever his deal is. Seriously, man, you look like shit.]
Oh. Ah, I... wasn't aware it was pertinent information to you. Not that I- that I couldn't be spirited away at any moment, of course. Not all of us, um. Stay here for years. Or want to stay here, or don't want to go home. Or, um.
[audio]
[Rey promptly stops that train of thought, though. She has a pretty good idea what the answer would be.]
No, it's no trouble. Head up there in a few hours. Have a few things to take care of.

Have they persisted, Miss Rey?
no subject
They come and go, but the tea helps. Guess you can't be expected to fuck around with your own brain and not have that bite you in the ass, huh?
no subject
[He has no idea, frankly. He rubs at the back of his neck, his eyes on the floor, their glow much more obvious out of the sun.]
I will have you know I have been teaching Atem some things, though I don't believe he's quite ready for imbuing drinks yet.
no subject
Ah, he mentioned something about that. Said you were helping him with "a thing".
[Weirdly, he wasn't much more descriptive than that.]
no subject
[Yes, a thing.]
no subject
[Why the hell did he have to be so secretive about something like that? She might have to nag at him about it later.]
no subject
[His brow furrows, knitting in offense.]
To create enchantments powerful enough to be effective is no mere task, Miss Rey.
no subject
It's not meant to be an offense. Seriously. Just... The kid was being unnecessarily vague about it, for some reason.
[Was it supposed to be a surprise? Did Carlisle just ruin a surprise? Oh well.]
no subject
[His confusion -- and her gesture -- seem to placate him.]
I see no reason for him to be vague when one of them is for you.
[If this was supposed to be a surprise, no one informed him.]
no subject

[And so was Carlisle, or he wouldn't have jumped into agreeing to do this the second Atem mentioned Rey.]

Doesn't hurt to have some backup, though.

no subject
Ahah, no, of course not. I mean, I do, but I made these for you. Believe me, I have more in my apartment than I could possibly use in my time here.
[How unfortunate that he's being very literal about that.]
no subject
[Looks like it's also time to address that elephant in the room.]
What, you think you have a checkout date you didn't bring up before or something?
no subject
Oh. Ah, I... wasn't aware it was pertinent information to you. Not that I- that I couldn't be spirited away at any moment, of course. Not all of us, um. Stay here for years. Or want to stay here, or don't want to go home. Or, um.
[Yeah, good save, Carlisle.]
no subject
True, but that doesn't mean there's any guarantee if or when someone will be sent home.
And you look pretty fucked up as it is, more so than usual. You sick?
[It's hard not to notice, and even harder not to point that out now, because she has a sinking feeling that it might be related.]
