NOTE: As of 12/2016, Rey has adopted the alias "Fiona Stransky" when working with the Guard. Something to keep in mind, as Rey maintains a low profile with her involvement in the group. Other than what is mentioned in the Guard records, there is no trace of a "Fiona" identified on the network.
[Hey, he's talking to the Queen of Rude, here. Rey is the last person to take offense.]
Hello to you, too. [She'll say it anyway, more out of good humor than actual offense. Rey is cleaning when Atem comes in and she's preoccupied, anyway.] Right now, he's probably upstairs, on the bed or something.
[That's where Tripod usually sleeps these days, because it's where Rey usually sleeps. Damn cat.]
「Excuse him, he's beelining upstairs then. And not so long passes before Rey might be able to listen quite the rattle coming from the stairs. There is this midget taunting his feline friend with something that seems to be a broken fishing rod with some extremely obnoxious coloured feathers hanging from the end of the line.
He chuckles as Tripod tries to catch it, eventually making it around Rey.」
This is for you.
「He offers the rod at her, it can be clearly seen now that he fixed it to be a toy, and those feathers, he dyed them himself with Carlisle's glyphs, as practice. Throwing them away seemed like a waste. Now, stop working so much, have some fun with your alien cat, Rey!」
[And he's excused for the duration that Rey keeps working. Even when there's nothing left to do, she still tries to find something to keep herself busy with. Anything that isn't just sitting around, waiting for time to pass.
[That's when Atem returns down the stairs with a... thing. What is that?
[Reluctantly and confused, she takes it, a brow arched as she looks at it and then Atem.
[Then to Tripod as well, who is perched nearby, eye blinking and tail swaying in an expecting posture. He clearly wishes to continue whatever he was doing before.]
That's fine... it's clean already. [She pauses, before glancing back down to Atem's little gift before her voice pitches a few octaves higher in, nonplussed:] Is this a cat toy?
[She might never have owned a pet, but Rey isn't completely cluelese.]
「Since it's clean and everything, Atem swiftly manages to sit on the counter with his fabulous legs crossed as he observes the interchange between Tripod and Rey.」
Yep.
「Is it great?」
You just wave it in front of him. 「And he demonstrates with a hand gesture.」 I think he likes it.
[As if listening in on their conversation, Tripod hurries off his perch and towards Rey's feet, circling her legs and eye locked on the end of the toy. A scratchy mew escapes his mouth as his head cocks and turns inquisitively.]
Seems like it.
[Testing this, she wiggles the top a few inches away from Tripod's face. He starts going to town.
[With a muffled laugh, she continues.] Did you make this for him yourself?
「Not only Rey gives a little laugh, so does Atem. He should probably get him more stuff. It's worth the effort if something so simple can make Rey smile a little. It's the little things that matter.」
Yeah, I had the stuff lying around, 「His room is a mess, probably... No, it actually is.」 I never threw away that rod, and the feathers are from the few birds we have here, maybe he likes the smell too. But they seemed a little boring so I dyed them with some magic.
I've always have some affinity to it, back home. 「He's the most magical boy, wearer of miniskirts and all.」 But to answer your question, yeah sort of. Carlisle has been teaching me what he knows of glyphcrafting. It's quite useful, I can change the color of things now, gonna save the world from dullness.
「Well, of course there is so much more than that! But he chooses to mock about that feature a little bit. Going from being able to create powerful protective items to change the color of things, it's a little funny to him.」
[God, don't talk about magical girls/boys to Rey. She temporarily became one in a weird ass nightmare/dream, thanks to Alphys being a huge nerd.]
Oh, right. That's something that can be learned. Seems like it's been a while since he's taken on any new students... Think all of the last few he had are gone now. [Some in which Rey knew, herself. She had no idea that they could be used to change color, though.
Ah, yeah, he mentioned he had been teaching someone else.
「At the time it didn't occur to him to ask, he feels a little ashamed now, his and Carlisle's whole focus had been entirely on their little project, barely, they talk about anything else when they get reunited, and that was fine with him too, but given Carlisle's condition, maybe he should take some time to talk to him. But it's understandable, the rush, the priorities... He does remember Carlisle questioning himself, if it was worth training another student before Atem mentioned Rey, as she had been the whole reason why he agreed to it, the topic of that conversation got dropped off.
He seems a little thoughtful as he reminiscences at all of this.」
Did you know any of them?
「If he cannot bother Carlisle with it, maybe he can still gather some information about what kind of people they were like.」
A few of them, yeah. Think he was teaching them mostly shit like healing.
[Beyond that and the glyphs, Rey has no idea what he can even do, since she didn't even know changing colors of things was a possibility. She's never taken an interest in learning about magical crap. She just recalls how Shadow tried forcing Carlisle into making him teach healing. Rey did not take learning about that kindly.]
Wasn't very close to most of them, but one was a good kid. [It's still a shame about Frisk. Sans, much less so, but she of course didn't get to pick Carlisle's pupils.]
Well, that's actually a surprise, Carlisle has been very open to all the different schools, except for the one that includes healing. So, the comment takes him aback for a brief moment when he realizes it.
He should probably ask... When they are done with this thing which, by the way...」
Hey, Rey, do you have something with you that you always carry?
[That Carlisle isn't prioritizing healing in particular would be surprising to Rey as well. Considering how he's dying, how he's on borrowed time unless he actually plans to do something about it, she would think that he would want to make sure there are healers left who can continue his work. Maybe that's an inevitable outcome he doesn't want to think about yet, but. He doesn't strike her as the type to neglect the necessities.
[Before that can come up, however, Rey blinks at Atem, lowering her arm as Tripod pitifully bats at the end of the rod as if urging her not to stop. Sorry, little buddy, but she's distracted now.]
Not... really-- [No, that's not right.] Wait.
[With her free hand, she fishes out the dogtags under her shirt. She's always wearing them, but most people wouldn't notice since she keeps them hidden under what little layers she wears.]
[For a moment, Rey just holds the metal tags in her free hand, staring at Atem inquisitively. She'd ask what for, but she has a feeling, based on what she knows now.]
This have anything to do with what you're doing with Carlisle?
[Since Carlisle told her about the kid wanting to imbue some sort of protective magic against demons for her trip, she doesn't hesitate to slide the chain over the top of her hand before handing a pair of black dogtags to Atem. While they are certainly old, the quality of the metal and paint help to preserve a legible inscription.
[In truth, they're not Rey's dogtags. Not truly. Schuyler's is the only physical remnant she has of any one of her past selves, and so it's always been something she's held close to her for years.
「Atem takes them and instead of putting them immediately in his pocket, he examines the relic with genuine interest, the name and the rest of the inscription doesn't really tell him anything, but they are actually pretty cool looking.」
Didn't know they came in colors.
「Of course his own version of dogtags is way more flashy than that.」
「Of course she has! Not about them all, but he had the... pleasure to meet Safronov after all. She did mention something about successors Rey did mention being... eight other woman, or have their memories in some way. It's true, it's confusing and he never got the whole picture, but it's hardly needed, he's been putting the puzzle together for a long time now.」
Before Safronov and the argentine marine?
「See? He knows things... Maybe much more than she realizes given how he was wearing the Millennium Eye when ... you know.」
[Yeah, she'd rather not know about whatever he saw when he had that Eye on. Save for the "fabulous powers" she doesn't have a very concrete idea on what it did, anyway.]
After Silva, before Safronov.
Schuyler was... considered an "illogical personality".
[The order can be confusing when you don't have it all pinned down in your head like Rey does.]

Hey, Rey, do you have something with you that you always carry?
「What an abrupt topic change.」

This have anything to do with what you're doing with Carlisle?
no subject
Do you read minds now? Because yeah! That's it.
「He says with a cheeky smirk on his face. Nah! He knows they are friends now! It's only logical to think that maybe the priest told her about it.」

All right.

Sch...
「Wait, hold on...」
How do you pronounce it?
「Is it German? Gods he's so illiterate! Get him books!」
no subject
It's Dutch, but people just say it like "Skylar".
[Unlike Schuyler, Rey at least pronounces it like the more comprehensive phonetic way. Her English was terrible.]
no subject
Does he want to ask?」
These are not yours, are they?
「He finally closes his small fist around them and puts them in his jacket's pocket.」
As long as you carry them with you they'll work.
